It presents amber items from prehistoric to contemporary, particularly 17th and 18th century caskets, altars, cutlery, candlesticks, figures, and jewellery – the masterpieces of amber art from the period of its glory. The exhibition is supplemented by folk art, contemporary Polish artistic design and amber specimens. It is the largest collection of natural and man-made amber items in Poland, and one of the greatest in the world. The exhibition is located in the basement of the eastern Medium Castle, and Malbork Castle itself is a fortress covering more than 20 hectares. It is one of the biggest existing gothic architecture complexes in the world and the most-visited destination in Pomorskie.
