In 1883 the village was inhabited by 514 people, most of whom were Evangelicals (434). Only 70 Catholics and 11 Mennonites settled in Koszwały. The settlement featured a Lutheran church with a rectory and a school for the parishioners, while Catholics belonged to the Gdańsk parish and used the church and school in Wocławy.

There is a 1792 arcade house in the village, built on an artificially-raised small hill, a so-called terp. The building’s arcade is supported on seven wooden pillars. The entire structure is made of brick, while the gable is decorated with beams. Baroque doors lead up to the hall, and the interior has remained almost unchanged from its original decor.
