It encompasses a forest slope belonging to the Chełst valley, one of the cleanest rivers in Poland. The habitats protected include numerous spring niches with plants characteristic of spring areas, as well as a community of acid lowland beech forest, with trees around 100 years old. The lay of the land is also fascinating.

Borkowskie Wąwozy includes the habitats of various protected and rare plants, such as Northern firmoss, common spotted orchid, yellow pimpernel, and Glyceria nemoralis. The reserve is probably Poland’s northernmost habitat of the protected deer fern.

In the reserve, strict nature protection regulations are in force, and tourism is subject to restrictions.
