The town is located where important local communication routes cross, and because of this location it is visited by virtually everyone who goes to Kashubia. Kościerzyna is a local metropolis for a huge area of rural municipalities surrounding it. That is why local people and tourists thirsty for civilness who rest by the lakes and in the forests of this region regularly visit this town. Kościerzyna’s attractive commercial package is completed by local tourist attractions and the most popular of these is the rare collection of old locomotives and wagons in the Railway Museum. The Accordion Museum, which can be visited by speakers of four languages – Polish, Kashubian, English and German – is equally interesting and unique, and it presents a huge collection of instruments. The lovers of peculiar militaria will willingly visit the Museum exhibition of misfires coming from World Wars I and II. The local history can be learnt in the Museum of Kościerzyna Land located in the town square. Other monuments worth mentioning are the two churches located in the centre of the town – the Baroque-Revival Holy Trinity Church with the miraculous painting of Holy Mary and the Gothic-Revival Christ Resurrection Church.
