As has been frequently stressed, this extraordinary piece of architecture is unique even on the European scale as the last Pomeranian sanctuary built with the use of the framework technique. Its interiors conceal impressive paintings and the inside of the St. Barbara’s chapel contains a carved date of the consecration ceremony – “Anno 1823”.
Until demolition works, all these elements had been covered by a wooden wainscot. Renovation included some furnishings, such as the tabernacle, the pulpit, the font, and the main altar.
The reconstructed church, which is now administered by the Commune Cultural Centre in Sierakowice, has assumed a new role. It serves as a venue for exhibitions, vernissages and concerts, definitely enriching the commune’s tourist and cultural package. Its renovation was possible due to EU funding.
