The reserve was established in 1983 for the purpose of protecting the European beaver. It covers an area of 169 ha, taking in the entire Wda river basin, as well as the Wierzyca. There are many fascinating flora species that can be found here, 14 of which are under protection, and 18 of which are declared rare and endangered in Poland or in the region
