It is an eutrophic lake (characterised by a high concentration of substances dissolved in water and by having a low water transparency) with the maximum depth of 3.6 m, and a well-developed line of rushes and underwater plants. Lake Laska Reserve is an ornithological reserve established to extend permanent protection over the breeding grounds of numerous waterfowl and marsh bird species, particularly the mute swan, mallards, great crested grebes, golden-eyes, coots, black-headed-gulls and grey herons. Sometimes a white-tailed eagle or cormorant may be seen here as well. Access to the reserve is possible only on the individual consent of the Voivodeship Governor. The canoeing route of the Zbrzyca runs through the middle of the reserve.
