It combines neo-Gothic and neo Renaissance features. Its characteristic front facades with numerous turrets loosely reflect other Gdańsk monuments. The venue is an excellent example of combining a historical building with modern forms of interior decoration and construction. In recent years, the monument has been modernised, providing the interior with a functional and modern appearance, while the facades were able to regain their past greatness and historical nature. The basements host relics from the first Roman St. Nicholas’ Church from the 12^th Century, which were discovered during the archaeological research preceding the renovation of the hall. A well-preserved Roman basement was also discovered near the hall; according to the scientists, this is the oldest structure in Gdańsk. There are plans to make this valuable monument accessible to visitors.
