This part of the forest is protected because it includes pine forest habitats with staging places of mosses and lichens. Among the plants that can be found here are Cladonia stellaris and Flavocetraria nivalis, whose habitat in this area is the most extensive in all of lowland Poland. It should be noted that Cladonia stellaris is a species typical of high mountains. The reserve is also home to about 70 species of lichens, including nearly 50 terrestrial species.
The reserve is located in the vicinity of the Chojnice-Kościerzyna railway line, and the nearest PKP train station is in Lubnia. It is well worth visiting in spring or summer, when you can inhale the scent of pine resin filling the warm air.
