The Old Town in Tczew is one of the better-preserved municipal monument areas with mediaeval roots. The square market is surrounded on all sides by colourful tenement houses. The streets converge together to create a chessboard pattern. The Old Town is located on a hill, which provided a natural defence from the north, east and south. It was constructed in the 13th Century and today is a monumental town centre with great artistic, cultural and historic value.
