The brave and gallant knight received the land posthumously for his courage and contributions in battle. The land fell under the rule of Bożej’s son – Malutin. Over the years, the land owners changed many times. In the 15th Century, the property was inherited by the Goddentow family. Godętowo was treated as a very good location of capital for the Pomeranian nobles. The chronicles also recall the time, when the palace was… lost in a card game.
An interesting pointin the history of the palace was the year 1784, when the owner, Count Lehndorf, opened the first theatre in Pomerania here. The actors in the performances were the locals, which included the von Krokow family from the castle in Krokowo.
The final owners of the property were the von Somnitz family, who expanded it by adding east and west wings, a front porch terrace and a back terrace with an exit to the garden. On 18 September 1939, Adolf Hitler arrived in Godetowo when he was transferring from his special train called “Amerika” to a passenger vehicle to continue his trip to Sopot. During the war, the palace acted as the headquarters of the Abwehr military espionage. After the war, Godętowo Palace was taken over by the National Treasury. The unattended site fell into ruin during the nineteen nineties. In the May of 2009, following intensive reconstruction, a restaurant and hotel were opened in the palace, the interior of which refers to the old property, with a charming pond and monumental trees surrounding the manor.
